Tears are a young boy who scraped his knee
and a son who no longer feels worthy of the tuition his parents pay.
Tears are a father walking his not so little girl down the aisle
and an old man whose wife of 50 years just passed away.
Tears are a lonesome night without a lover,
and a throbbing headache that never seems to cease.
Tears are an overdue reunion between great friends,
and a beautiful sunrise viewed from atop a great peak.
But most of all, tears are the things that shape who we are and who we will someday be.

You feel that you are ugly
As you stand in front of the mirror
Eyes watchful looking at the image
You're ugly
Close your eyes and look at your soul
Are you still ugly?
You are sensitive, you are beautiful
You're scared and shy
But why scared?
To show the beauty of your soul
The generous person you are
The beauty that hides within
Outer appearance is just a shell
The most important thing grows inside you
A beauty
That makes all ugliness fade away

I know if I touch him
It's gonna hurt

It will only make it worse
If I pull him close, wrapped in my arms
I know that it will only bring me harm
He'll slice me through with his wounded eyes
Bleed me to death with his silent cries
Slit my throat with his pleading gaze
Scar me with his mournful ways
I can't get close, can't let him in
He'll cut me and I'll bleed within
It's happening all over again
I try, won't cry
As the knives go in
If I pull him close, it will bring me pain
But to push away simply brings the same
The hurt in his eyes when I turn away
Is a price that I'm unwilling to pay

So I watch her
Liked a sad, silent movie
Adding lines from the depths of my own memory
Dying a little more each time
I try to reach her
I can see her pain
But I cannot hold it in my hands
And she forever remains
As tangilble
As a long forgotten dream
Sweet... and distant..
